Gene Lane was an All-AAA football player for Cohn High in the 1969-70 school year.

Mr. Albert Eugene Lane, Jr. age 66, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Mr. Lane was born in Nashville, TN, on May 4, 1951, the son of the late Albert “Alec” Lane, Sr. and Hazel Louise Marcrum Lane.

He attended Cohn High School and served as Captain of the football team and awarded All State football honors. He served in the United States Navy earning his “dolphins” aboard the USS TUSK as a submarine specialist. After his naval service, he attended Central Connecticut State University where he played football at the collegiate level but later graduated from Vol State earning a business degree and Nashville Tech earning an engineering degree. Mr. Lane retired from Travelers Insurance after 35 years as a safety engineer.

Mr. Lane was a sports fan and also a 5th degree black belt karate instructor in Aki Jujitsu. His favorite past time was being a good “Papa” spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lane was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Lane. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Sophia Lane; two daughters, Kelly Lane and Kerry Lane Arrington (Clayton); two grandchildren, Connor and Chloe Arrington; a sister, Margie Lane Pruett (Murle); and a brother, Lee Lane (Debbie).

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017. Gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M with a service at 3:00 P.M. at the Hendersonville Funeral Home.
