Dr. Joseph G. Ormsby passed away April 13 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His family invites his friends, colleagues and acquaintances, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Joe to celebrate his life at 2 pm. April 22, in the Stephen F. Austin State University's Twilight Ballroom, located in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Joe is preceded in life by his father, William D. Ormsby, and mother, Dorothy Sneed. He leaves behind a number beyond recording: his wife, Cheri; his sister Annie and her husband, Jimmy Smith; his brother, Bill; his daughter, Charity, and her husband, Rick Bell; their two sons, and Joe’s grandsons, Devon and Christian Bell; his son, Andrew Ormsby, and his wife Natalie Arriola; their two daughters, and Joe’s granddaughters, Helena Ormsby and Jade Arriola; and the mother of his children, Susan Ormsby.

Joe was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He Spent his life in pursuit of education. He attended Middle Tennessee State University and earned a bachelor of science in chemistry. He served in Army, as a member of the Chemical Corps. He later attended the University of Arkansas and earned his doctorate in management.

He was a passionate educator; a self-styled slapstick comedian, ”scratch” golfer, carpenter, fisherman and fish-fry man; a loving husband; a father to anyone who needed one. He loved so greatly, he could love the entirety of the world, and those of us that knew his love live the more for it.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the SFA Alumni scholarship fund in his honor.
